The sense we live With
We're all familiar with our five senses: sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch. But there's a less talked about, yet equally vital sense that plays a crucial role in our well-being: interoception.
Simply put, interoception is our body's ability to sense what's happening inside itself. It's the internal awareness of our physiological state – the subtle (and sometimes not-so-subtle) signals that tell us if we're hungry, thirsty, hot, cold, tired, or even experiencing emotions.
Think about the gentle rumble in your stomach signaling hunger, the quickening of your heartbeat when you're nervous, or the feeling of warmth spreading through your cheeks when you're embarrassed. These are all messages delivered by your interoceptive system.

While some people naturally have a stronger interoceptive sense than others, it's a skill that can be cultivated through practices like mindfulness, meditation, yoga, and body scan exercises. By intentionally focusing on our internal sensations, we can strengthen the connection between our mind and body, unlocking a deeper understanding of ourselves from the inside out.
